*bawls* Nooooooo :'( Poor little Tifa and poor little Cloud...*sniffs*

Barret and cake....this can only end badly XD And Aerith...makes you wonder what else Cloud knows about her. Though White made me laugh quite a bit with his popping in, lol.

I do like how Cloud seems to be the most focused on game vs. real life - like with the chocobos, how he was completely fine with stealing them. He's separated it a bit better than the others, but he's also the most real - using his war knowledge and playing to survive. Aerith on the other hand seems to be more playing the game, and wanting to do things the "game" way, rather than the practical way. Its an interesting dynamic at least.

Anyways, must run now, but hooray for new chapter! =D

very distinct and astute observation about the difference in the way Cloud and Aerith deal with the game and you're right on entirely. Everyone else is pretty much going along for the ride but both Cloud and Aerith are trying to manipulate the game according to their own intents. I don't notice it as much when I'm writing but when you point it out it does show, doesn't it?

And White, he doesn't get many lines but yeah, when he does he certainly uses them to the full extent. I get the distinct impression that he messes with Cloud just because he can ;) Who doesn't need friends like that?

Loved the portal reference. =) And the further hints into Aerith's background... and about what Cloud knows about her background. Loved that the gamer playing Barret is so very Barret. And, of course, loved that Cloud is going to make things right for Tifa!

The info on how they know each other was a treat, too!

What kind of gamer would Barret be if he didn't reference Portal at some point?! But yeah, I never thought of the gamer angle for him but he's thriving in it now - I'm having fun. Can't wait for his big reveal.

And yeah, slowly but surely, Cloud and Tifa's history is coming out. Finally! ;)

...Unspeakable amounts of win for White, who can appear in a little girl's body and yet still appear manly. Also, for the Portal reference, and "Grand Theft Chocobo ( ... )

heh - I like slipping the 'koibito' thing in there just as a reminder that's what SE calls Tifa. And yeah, White constantly surprises me too. He's so quiet most of the time and then he decides to freak Cloud out as calm as a cat. I always enjoy him showing up. Couldn't resist the video game references, especially not from our gamer!Barret. Aerith, one of these days I'm going to figure her out - but not anytime soon apparently so we're both in the same boat regarding her. And dang it, I just want Tifa and Cloud to clear things up too - but I suspect they're not there yet. Might need a Jessie push!

Ooh, things are starting to unfold very nicely. I like the incorporation of real events (Afghanistan) into the story. It hones in the idea that the players are like us being trapped in this virtual world. But oy, player!Cloud, Cloud, player!Tifa, Tifa--I'm discombobulated!

I'm glad they work. Especially for Cloud, he's got a tumble of backstory that's based in real world events and just because he's in a game doesn't mean they leave him. So I'm glad it adds to the story instead of jarring away from it. lol - it's much easier if you just let the names go. I went with the 'what makes someone who they are?' - if it's the name then we're all in trouble but if it's the personality, it's much easier to roll with ;)

you know me and my fascination with exploring what makes a person who they are ;)
