(I'm not sure how your university counts the credits, but maybe one 3/C among better grades won't matter that much? At least you passed. And later one people will only check your final results and not the grade of one specific class)
I totally understand your troubles with grammar though. Somehow this seems to be the hardest to learn. Apart from keigo.......
Your plan to study all the kanji in advance sounds quite good to me.

Why, oh why, do dorama DVDs have to be that expensive. I once found Nobuta for 10.000 in some Book Off in Tokyo, but that's already used... New ones are outrageously overpriced -.-

Ah, I don't study japanese at university, I'm not a student anymore. I study at JKI (http://www.jki.de/) . It's all done by choice, nobody's forcing me. ;) And it is divided like semesters, you have to pass a test at the end of the course to continue to the next course.

Still, that course is better than no class at all, because even if you are doing it for yourself, you still want to pass the exam, so there is some slight pressure. Which is more then I have, with no class ^^;;;;;;;

Right now I'm reading Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr. I could have finished it already months ago but it's just so good that I kind of don't want it to end yet. Though I should. I have tons to read after all (and no time ;_;).
