Super Tuesday

Feb 06, 2008 08:37

As far as Kansas is concerned it was a Super Cluster.  I got to my site at 5:30; there was already a line.  Around 6:45 I finally got to sign my name in and they didn’t have it.  This happened to 5 other people around me.  The excuse, they must have gotten an old list, from when the ‘90’s?  So I had to stand in another line to re register.  I did ( Read more... )

Damn. I wonder how Texas will be come March 4th?

Glad you got in to your car!! What a pain! I remember the first time I had ice on my Festiva/Roller Skate and I poured hot water on the door handles to get the ice off just so I could open the door...

You are lucky that you didn't break the window. There is always a news story at the beginning of winter about people shattering windows.

Hopefuly TX will learn from this and be more orginized. At least it won't be 29 deg and raining out for you. ;-)

haha, yeah, looking back I'm glad I only poured it on the handle. I would have been dumb-ass enough to pour it on my window back in the day!! *hangs head in shame*

I knew you'd be at your caucus. Ours was pretty insane, but not nearly as bad as what you evidently dealt with. What a pain!

Congrats on selling the car!

I'll be thinking good thought for your aunt, lady.

They just were not prepaired for the turn out. It was fun but I feel like I was cheated out of the whole experence.

Thanks darling.

I have to admit I like some of the ideas of a caucus, especially when it is being done on a small enough level that it can be accomplished reasonably. I fail to see how it can be handled in a state, though. Granted, some of this is just the fact that I have never participated in one, so I don't know all the mechanics. But I have my doubts that multiple polling places (even 4-5, much less what you have in a state the size of Kansas) could communicate well enough to achieve the goals of a true caucus ( ... )

I know. I was really excited since this was my first caucus. Granted, I am 99.999% sure on how the state will go in the election, but it was important to decide who will represent the DNC.

As the DNC rep said, the leglaslators could not find 2Mil in the budget for elections. And that would have covered both parties. I am sure with all the problems at different locations, the cities had to spend that much on crowd control, etc.

Thanks for the thoughts, everyone is accounted for.

I'm glad you got into the car. I had some trouble opening my door this morning, but the lock functioned okay. When it gets sticky, I get into real trouble. Luckily, the passenger side of my car is usually sheltered from the weather, so I have better luck with that.

I remember one year, though, that some water got into the lock and stayed frozen for days. It was one of those weeks where it never went above freezing, so it just wouldn't clear itself out. Every time I came out in the morning or left work in the afternoon, I would dump a cup of water or hot chocolate or whatever I had on the side of my car to warm it up enough to open, and then just deal with it again 8 hours later. :)

You would think auto makers would think of something to solve this problem, it happens to so many people.

I agree! I'm no engineer and I don't claim to know how the inside of my car lock works (any more than I do the inside of anything else in my car, including the part of my brain that controls my temper!), but I have to assume there is a little area in there that usually keeps water out, but every once in awhile some gets in there. And then it just sits there and alternately freezes and thaws until it's finally warm enough to evaporate.

Now the thawing thing is what gets me. If it thaws enough when I dump hot water on it for the lock to operate, or thaws enough while the car is running that it works fine when I get to work, then it seems like just a little hole cut in there would let it drain out. I'm sure the mechanism is complicated enough that the solution is actually different than this, but I just can't imagine that it's all that much harder.

It probably is ridiculously simple and that is why they have not thought of it. :-)

I actually see this as a GOOD thing. It means people are sick and tired of the state of the country and are coming out in full force!

It is a good thing, it was just a let down and there were quite a few people bad mouthing the democratic party and their planning by the end. One person said they would not vote democratic any more if this is how they organize, that was a little sad.
