Oooh, Famous Guy

May 09, 2007 11:04

I got a call back personally from Jerry Rubin this morning. Not 'the' Jerry Rubin who was Abby Hoffman's cohort who said to never trust anyone over 30 (he's dead), the west coast Jerry Rubin who is the Los Angeles head of the Alliance for Survival. Any SoCal people remember the Quoites booth at ren faire? That was a charity booth to support The ( Read more... )

the group shot was the same year I joined that booth, but I guess I wasn't there that day. :) or was still in camerashy mode.

I have Tinka's email address; will post in separate comment.

I remember the first time I ran into you inside the booth, we both looked like, "What are you doing here?!". Funny. I don't remember who Tinka is, can you remind me?

My favorite thing about Quoites booth was the debauchery, whether people running around naked during faire hours or the 'transmogifiers' that we used to smoke pot with a dryer sheet stuck in one end! Plus I used to hide out in there until rounding out was over and I could stay past closing when I ws a turkey. And tickle feathers and making out with strangers and bodice checks and...

I don't think you worked that booth the same years as Grace (Jenny at the time), did you? Also, is that Airyque Hamilton in the group photo?

at faire, I still wear one of the ugly-ass necklaces that were the third-level prize above tickle feathers and magic boxes. :)

yes, it was all about the debauchery, and the opportunities to make up the rules of the game as you went along, to make sure you got the dollar. (the dollar!!)

I do believe she was there then, yes, for at least some of my time there.

I don't remember Airyque being there or not; I was much shyer with coworkers there than I would be now and I sort of kept to myself (though I freely played with the customers).

I can name a few of the people in this photo. I worked Qoites with Jenny/Grace and Dev during the 92 and 93 seasons at southern and northern. I swear I have a photo album around here somewhere with pictures, but haven't been able to find them (when i do though - I'll pass on all my pictures of Jenny/Grace to you).

The people I know that worked during that time:
Richard Cisneros (pictured)
Airyque Hamilton (pictured)
Gred Dent (pictured
Zeke (pictured)
(zeke's girlfriend, but I've forgotten her name - pictured)
Bryan Muller (cant see him in photo, but doesn't mean he's not in it)
Todd (I think pictured)
I'm in that photo hiding too ;)

The other people you've already mentioned. The only people from that list I'm still in contact with are Richard and Airyque though. I have last local known info on a few others though if you want it. :)
/hugs

I thought I saw Branielle in there! Someone else brought up the name Greg Dent, seems like I should know who that is...

Thanks for all the help! I will take Richard's contact info, comments are still screened.

I don't see myself in the picture, but I was around (and especially at Northern Faire, unfortunately entwined with he-who-will-not-be-named). A good chunk of people from the Quoits booth camped out on my college apartment floor before Northern Faire one weekend in '93... and Lori is friends with Greg Dent's mom.
