 Since I made this Plan of mine known, a lot of people have been asking me how the whole thing works, artificial insemination. They find it interesting, and some have never even heard of it. I've known about it for many years, since my aunt's partner conceived their daughter by AI 13 years ago.

Thanks for the info, it's great to have it in such an accessible form and i'm impressed that you're so open to talking about this.

I hadn't heard about slow release of the sperm as an issue, they sound über fragile.

I'd wondered about the orgasm issue, as not every resource i've been through discusses it, leaving me with some question marks. Some LGBTIA films even discredit the need for one. Your post makes the issue a lot clearer, thanks.

A question. Why is the container sterile, but the syringe not?

Are you factoring any disease screening questions into the donor selection? (i remember the l word made this a big issue) and are you trying at different points of ovulation for gender preference? No offense, just wondered

stupid question, but when does ovulation start- when the egg is released or when the hormones prepare for it?

I'm not squeamish about stuff like this. Possibly because I'm a teacher (albeit for young children) my mindset is such that I'm open about everything to ensure proper understanding by others. Also, talking about it calms me down because otherwise I spend every waking moment freaking out (in a good way though). It also helps me to fully understand the concept ( ... )

I admire your teacher mindset, and respect it, it looks set to bring the world a lot more good. Please, by all means keep fbing, blogging and tweeting about it - I think it goes a long way towards making friends feel a part of your new kid's life ( ... )
