Since I made this Plan of mine known, a lot of people have been asking me how the whole thing works, artificial insemination. They find it interesting, and some have never even heard of it. I've known about it for many years, since my aunt's partner conceived their daughter by AI 13 years ago.
Please note, the following content may not be for young or sensitive readers, or those who dislike reading about girly bits in any detail. That is all.
There are two routes one can go. The fertility clinic route, and the DIY. For financial reasons, I'm attempting DIY first. If that fails after more than 6 cycles, I'll try something else.
Basically, what I need to get is a syringe (from a pet shop) and one of those sample collector jars hospitals use, since they are sterile and withstand being boiled.
At ovulation (or at least a day before), I will collect the fresh sperm from my donor in the collector jar. I then have 30 minutes to get the semen into the syringe. I will have to lie on my back with my hips on a pillow to raise them, and insert the syringe into my vagina right near my cervix. Then I depress the plunger on the syringe as slow as I can so the little buggers don't go splat. Then I have to have an orgasm to get my cervix to shlurp them up. After that, I wait half an hour, lying on my back with my hips raised to give them time to swim around and reach the egg, which will hopefully be on time and not stand them up. Either way, 2 days later, I need to repeat the process, just in case.
With any luck, the timing will be right and conception will happen, and by this time next year I should have a baby. :)
Still got to wait another 2 months though, and obviously confirm a donor.
I can't stop thinking about it. Now that everything's finally on the get-go, I'm so excited.
