'Shuttered', Sirius/Ginny, 15+

I have written fic! It’s an odd little story I started years ago. Enjoy!

Title: Shuttered
Ship: Sirius/Ginny
Summary: Do you remember his eyes, Harry? Ginny tells her husband about a past lover. Canon compliant.
Rating: 15+. Flagged for adult concepts.
Warnings: This is a canon-compliant Sirius/Ginny story, and as such, is set in Order of the ( Read more... )

What an interesting fic. I have to wonder how consensual it really was, just in that Ginny was fourteen and, well. Sirius was pretty messed up, as she realizes somewhat at the time and much later in retrospect.

The letter format (and her burning the letter at the close) make sense. Even though she says she's fine, it's a lonely secret to keep; of course she can't share it in the end.

Thank you for reviewing! Yes, of course; in fact I felt a bit uncomfortable putting "consensual underage" at the top of this fic, considering the age gap and Ginny's age, but this being fandom I didn't want people to assume it was out-and-out noncon. Glad you think the format makes sense; I know it's overdone, but I thought it was better that this fic was not in the third person (as it was originally supposed to be). Again, thank you!

Interesting piece in that she still thinks that as a just turned fourteen year old, she had the ability to consent to sex with a thirty five year old. If this was canon, I am not sure whether it would ruin their marriage or not. It is a huge lie because of who Sirius was to Harry and what it says of your Ginny's character and mental stability. Worst of all is that she let Harry name his son after a man who took his wife's virginity. I'm willing to bet that no man would want to do that. I hope this character actually loves Harry despite her secrets and selfishness--after all, did she want to protect Harry from having his view of Sirius ruined or prevent Harry from leaving her?

Thank you for reviewing! I enjoy your analysis of the potential canon ramifications of this scenario: I know this is a bleaker, darker Ginny than fandom often sees. I like your last question, I'll let you decide the answer! Thank you again :)

I really like this as an attempt to put a canon interpretation of what would normally be a very fanon story, ie Ginny/Sirius as a pairing ( ... )

Oh thank you so much! This is such a nice review, thanks xD I enjoy these kinds of rambles! And yes rereading bits of OotP for this, I was actually surprised at how dark Sirius seemed to be, even though I was obviously looking for it. Glad a big Sirius fan likes it; I wasn't trying to demonise him at all. Thank you! ♥ (Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm v tired!!)

Thank you so much, what a nice review :) Glad that you liked that line - that's something I was trying to convey.

Every reviewer so far has commented on the issue of consent. I hope that's not an indication that this is incorrectly labelled - I think proper warnings are really important on the internet and I wouldn't want to be in breach of that. If not, I'm glad it's been picked up on, because I was uncomfortable labelling this as consensual. I like your comments on the subject, and yes, I'd say she is protecting herself with her ott insistence, but also Harry, even though she decides to burn the letter, and Sirius too, because she cared about him.

Thank you again! Love your icon.

So, I read this a few days ago (around the time when you first posted) but I didn't have a chance to comment until just now.

I really enjoyed this piece. It was refreshing to read something where the events/characters aren't totally unharmed or altered by the things that happen to them. It's one of the things I dislike most about current fanfic--this idea that crazy things happen but its okay because at the end of the chapter/day/episode everything goes back to normal. I don't see life that way, and it means something to me when I read a story that reflects the very realness of life. Because having sex with an older man while everyone is looking the other way is exactly the kind of thing that does happen.

I understand what you mean about being "bothered" by certain aspects of this theme--not that the way your story was written bothered me personally, but I have a younger sister who came to me for advice after having sex for the first time at age 13 and I found myself wildly unequipped on how to help her.

Thank you so much! This is lovely. Glad you liked Ginny's voice. Its original title was actually 'Fragments', haha. You picked my favourite line!! V pleased you did. I don't know what to say about your sister that doesn't sound intrusive, but thanks for the acknowledgement that this does happen at this age.

Thank you! ♥!

You're welcome :D I don't mind talking about my somewhat related experience since it's definitely something I learned from, which Ginny appears to acknowledge as well. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm really glad to see a story that actually went there, instead of shying away from touchy subject-matter.
