So it really looks like Kitty's out. She's the number one candidate. For a lot of reasons. *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

What's the point? Except to give Colossus more to angst about? I strongly dislike Colossus, btw. He's nothing but an angst machine, and a *cliche* angst machine. He's only interesting when he's... on the other side.

I love Kitty as well. Whedon really brought her back into the limelight and got me to appreciate the character. Despite her fantastic history, she's normal. She's relatable. It would suck if she's dead. I mean, the build up to her death in Astonishing makes sense, and it'll be dramatic. But Kitty!

I like Colossus, at least when Whedon writes him. A lot of Colossus' older appearances kind of bore me. At least his character interactions. And even now, he doesn't really appeal to me. Let's hope that improves.

I would definitely agree that, if anyone's managed to make me appreciate Colossus at all, it's Whedon. And the one thing I really appreciate is that Whedon took a pretty much nobody character (who had been dead for five years!) and tried to turn him into an interesting character. Judging by the amount of Colossus fans popping up, I'd say he succeeded. My own reasons for disliking him go further than just his previous mediocrity. But it is awesome that a writer transformed a character so much. I wish more writers would do that. So many characters could be awesome if more writers would just pull them out of their rut *cough* Nightcrawler *cough*. You're even sort of getting that with Cyclops... who I wouldn't say was boring before, but now between Whedon and Carey they're making him a lot more interesting and accessible to non-fans ( ... )
