(I've added the tag to the community)

Anyone still here and wants to talk about Beyond? BECAUSE I HAVE SO MANY KIRK/MCCOY FEELS AGAIN. And it feels amazing. It also is nice to have reason to use a Kirk/McCoy icon again lol

I'd be more than happy to (though not necessarily here, because I'm really nervous about posting where everyone can see it, even if there don't seem to be too many people around), but I think there's an even better place for you to talk about the film at the jim-and-bones community.
Specifically at this post: 'Star Trek Beyond' reaction post!

Let's see how active that comm is, otherwise Tumblr it is for squee posts.

(i didn't know people still dislike open comms?? Or I'd it still the feud between the two communities?)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "disliking open comms" and "the fud between the two communities". I didn't even know there was a feud.
I only wanted to say that I'm quite shy and an introvert and it makes me really anxious if people read my posts, but that's it.

if I remember there were some tensions between the two comms ages ago (hence I think why this comm isn't even listed in their profile as a McKirk comm despite it being the first on livejournal). Dunno.

you can message me tho if you feel like it. Or on tumblr >> thejamesmays

I'll chat with you! :D

I agree, all my Jones feelings have been reawakened and I'm so happy for it! (Same for Spones, but that's another comm, lol.) I feel full of inspiration and I can't wait to start writing again.

How about you? What did you like best about the film?

yasss. Tbh I loved it as a character film. When the first trailer came out and it was only "action, action, action" I was so prepared to be disappointed. But this was way more than that. I liked the ensemble feel of it, everyone teaming up and supporting each other. I thought that was well done. And having Jim kinda mirroring the depression from being alone in space with Krall's insanity (reminded me actually of another film, Pandorum or to another extent, Event Horizon).

Also so much McKirk!! I could not believe it. It's like they remembered that Bones was his best friend from Academy days, especially after Kirk/Spock vs the universe in the previous film.

(also yasss at Spock/Bones! :D)

I didn't even watch the trailers (though now I kind of want to). I was so disappointed by the last film that I honestly wasn't even planning to go see this one. It wasn't until my Dad asked if I'd be his movie date that I went and I am so glad I did because this film blew away all my expectations and filled me with more joy than any film in recent history has. :D ( ... )

I think the second trailer (the first one was just action scenes set to Sabotage) wasn't that bad and made me slightly more excited to see the film. Although the action was actually really good. When they were attacked I was eating my chips and just staring at the cinema screen all tensed-up lol. And then I grabbed my bf's hand and was like "this was intense" xD ( ... )

So much love for McKirk's matching party outfits at the end of the movie. Jim's smirk when Spock suggests taking the doctor with him....God I love this movie!

I'll read everyone's comments in a mo but for now I LOVED IT SFM. Like, cannot adequately express in words. AND ALL THE KIRK/MCCOY. I mean they were all competent as fuck which is hella sexy, but watching Kirk and McCoy be the besties they've always been in our hearts... I maybe totally didn't cry a little. >. >
