So I taught today. It was a little bit of a strange day since the roads were all icy so most of the volunteers for the morning didn't make it. That meant I had to bring in about 10 horses since they all live outside 24/7 and are only brought in for lessons. The one other morning volunteer brought in about 5 horses. But we were supposed to ride 5-6 of the horses before we started lessons at 9 which didn't happen. We just finished bringing horses in at 8:45! Yikes. Thank goodness several of the riders cancelled/didn't show up! I did get to ride one kind of hyper mare for about 15 minutes before class.

Anyways when it was finally time for my first group we only had 4 of the 6 kids so we only used two horses instead of three. They were so cute. The one kid was having a very hard time concentrating and kept going of on verbal tangents. haha. But the other three kids were so happy to be riding and did an awesome job. These kids will probably be off lead most of the time aside from trotting (except maybe the space cadet!) But they all said they wanted to do trail riding these semester. I told them we would certainly tried but that alot of that depended on the weather.

The second group was a lot more...interesting. They were quite a mixed bag. It is going to be a challenge to keep the two almost indepedent riders moving while keeping the two less independent riders engaged. But the two other instructors said I did a great job for the first week of keeping the lesson moving the whole time (very important in cold weather like today!) and of explaining things. I do need to work on projecting my voice though.

There were two Instructor Training Canidates there observing today and they asked me, "So how long have you been teaching here?" I told them, "It was my first official day today." And they were shocked. They said I did a great job of keeping everyone involved and moving the whole time!

I can't wait for next week!
