Ok so the boys in yellow have been being really good about coming in off the grass for dinner. But the draft boys in black and white? Not so much. I was all by myself to feed this afternoon so I ended up leaving them out on the grass while I went and fed yellow. Then I went back and got them off the grass. I rode Teddy today. I can tell has has been getting better schooling rides. We actually managed to canter most of the way around the ring to the right without falling to the inside *too* much. I got to ride two horses yesterday. I rode a new trial pony name PB (Petersburg). He was a bit deadsided but he was a very good boy. And his canter was amazing! It was soo smooth. As the other instructor described it, "Like riding glass." I had to keep him moving the whole time which is a good thing in a therapy horse. He carried his head pretty ( Read more... )

I rode Raisin again today. She only bucked once and she didn't take off at a gallop afterwards. I rode for about 30-45 minutes mostly at a walk. At least she was much calmer today. Ok so keep in mind this mare has had a good 6-8 weeks of sitting in the paddock doing zip. She was Ok walking in to the barn until the hay truck turned on the elevator. I was talking to some people at work a week or so ago and I might get to take one of the school horses in a dressage show series. They have a fund raiser series in May through September. I got to ride today. I rode the trial horse, Broadway. He's a 12 yo (I think?) Westaphalian gelding. He used to do show jumping or some other intense competive riding until he got laminitis about 6 monthes ago. He has beautiful suspension. Its like a trampoline! I got to ride Raisin today. A.k.a. One Eye Wonder! Anyways, I guess she kicked a volunteer on Saturday because someone let the horse behind her get too close to her. She was trying to get the gelding that was right on her tail and instead since she can't see that side of her body hit the volunteer in the shin/ankle area.
