Mad props

I’m doing repetitive facepalms over ACen’s weapon policy, specifically the prop gun rules. I thought maybe I’d been spoiled by Otakon’s rules, but now that I look, Otakon doesn’t allow anything airsoft or with moving parts, period. You would be surprised at some of the policies hotels or convention centers can have. We were told to outlaw face masks at Zkon and other rule particulars last year.

Because they said so? :P Maybe its a gang thing. I learned recently that people with tattooes or other things associated with gangs are not allowed in certain areas in Japan.

I don't remember exactly why we had to make this policy, but our policy from 2009 states:

"Masks covering an attendee’s face should be easily removable upon request by hotel or Zenkaikon staff. The Radisson Hotel has also asked that attendees remove full facial masks when leaving the general convention areas.
"

Huh. I guess I can see that, but I'd feel bad for mascots. Taking off a facemask in that case could be a real production.

This is true - I have fake cigs still, and a rose would be nice aromatherapy.
