Maverick

So recently I rewatched The Great Escape which is one of my favorite movies of the 1960's. It has a really great cast and every time I watch it makes me look up the actors and see other things of theirs I haven't seen ( Read more... )

I'm glad you're enjoying Maverick! :) It is such a fun show. That's too bad Encore doesn't have all of it, though. Weird. Then you won't get to see the season 4 episodes with Cousin Beau. Although the plots weren't always the greatest by season 4, Beau himself is a lot of fun and brings a touch of British class to things. (He spent five years in England, came back half-British.)

The episodes with both Bret and Bart are a lot of fun. The first one with Bart is so intense. And the one that shows their backstories and why they started traveling is really sad.

And yeah, I don't go much for Wanted: Dead or Alive, either. I like one of the two Richard Anderson episodes (Three for One) and that's about it. The show either seems to be too off-the-wall silly/stupid or too depressing for me, depending on the episode. I did get quite a kick out of the one where he's hired to find a lost sheep, though. LOL.

I may be slowly becoming obsessed, it's basically all I watched today and I bought a few eps not available on TV on i-tunes to watch on my commute. Encore has all of Season 1 on Demand & 1/2 of season 2 and then I guess various eps from S2 and S3 air on the channel that you can record for the future.

Anyways Moore was actually my favorite Bond as a child so I am interested in his eps (although the idea of Garner not being on the show anymore does make me sad). That being said I have grown very attached to Kelly's portrayal as Bart and now I love him just as much as Bret. Most eps I have seen have been the two of them together.

I did the see Gun Shy & Prey of the Cat as solo eps, but I am interested in more solo Bart and Bret recs. I've come to the conclusion I like fun Bret eps and dramatic Bart eps.

I did get quite a kick out of the one where he's hired to find a lost sheep, though

I will have to look for that one. :)

Awesome. At least you have a way to see the others, if only via purchase.

Have you seen The Rivals? The only time James Garner interacted with Roger Moore on the show, although Roger was not playing Beau that day. It is such a hilarious, fun episode (with some hurt/comfort, yay!) And the episode where the camel is following Bret around is adorable. Oh, and for solo Bart episodes, you must see The Goose-Drownder!

James Garner leaving is very sad indeed. The show never was the same without him (and floundered very quickly, too).

The sheep episode of Wanted is one of the last episodes, I think.

Thanks, I haven't seen Rivals yet but I had bought that one already on itunes but I also now bought Goose-Drownder based on your advice. It will make the commute to work more fun (although it will cut down my reading).
