Stuff like GSNK isn't usually my type of show. I usually get bored by humor shows because comedy generally works better for me in short format (i.e. movies) than as a whole show. But I ended up adoring it. It's definitely one of my favorites of the year.

I think I need to take another stab at Akatsuki. I found the first episode kind of boring (it was all the romance focus I think), but I have so many friends that are raving about it now.

I'm going to do this too, though I'll switch the categories around b/c I don't watch sports for example.

I actually change the categories every year and base them on what shows I watched and enjoyed that year. I think I've been doing this since 2006 or 2007 and my categories have always changed.

Akatsuki no Yona is a reverse harem (more male characters) but the main female lead is well developed. I guess there is a romance but it is also about the female lead growing up, learning new things, and getting stronger because of what happens in the 1st episode.

Gekkan Shoujo was also a surprise for me. I checked it out because the premise sounded cute but I definitely didn't expect to love it as much as I did. And it very rare for a comedy to be my favorite of the year (although I also really loved Shirokuma Cafe which was a recent comedy too)
