Pretty much covers the year. Had a very slow start and really didn't get going until the summer season.
I am also surprised that I ended up loving 2 comedies this year since comedy is generally a weak genre for me. And even more surprising that a comedy would end up as my favorite series of the year. But of all the series I watched this year Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun was the one that filled me with the most happiness.
Going in I would have expected my favorite series to be Mushishi and don't get me wrong I did absolutely love Mushishi and I am grateful we got the entire manga animated (well almost still waiting for the movie) but if I am being honest I felt the 2nd series wasn't quite as strong as the 1st.
As for Nagi no Asukara being a disappointment I will say I did enjoy it till the end but considering how much I ended up enjoying the 1st half the 2nd half was a disappointment in comparison.
Originally had the 2nd season as Free! In Best Sports but thinking about it, it's very light on the sports aspect. It was more than pretty boys though lol with most of the characters getting good development. The series pulled me in with swimming bishounen but thankfully transcended that. I think overall the 2nd series was even stronger than the first (except the ending) Although as far as pure hearted fun,excitement, & friendship in sports Haikyuu was definitely my favorite of the year.
