Unlicensed Anime and Manga

Updated list of my most wanted anime & manga licenses. Going to stick to stuff that as far as I know isn't licensed in any English speaking country (this leaves out Dennou Coil and Chihayafuru which I gave up on being released in the US and imported from Australia)

I've got a lot of doubts as to an MI rerelease ever happening. The show was never a big seller, even during Takahashi's glory days, in the US. In fact I think even the manga might be out of print? :(

It's sad though. I'd also love if Viz could release Rumiko's later short story volumes...

I don't understand the lack of Silver Spoon license.

I am pretty sure the Maison Ikkoku manga is out of print as well. I got water damage on one of my volumes and I had to rebuy it and it wasn't cheap (luckily it was only one volume). I didn't realize it didn't sell well though that is disappointing to hear. I was kind of hoping after Ranma that Viz may re-release Maison Ikkoku. It would be nice to see both the anime and manga released here again.

As for Silver Spoon I am guessing Viz is scared off by the subject matter and length but I think slapping from the creator of FMA would help it sell.

Well for all of Viz's extensive promotion of Rumiko Takahashi in the late 90s/early 2000s as the queen of manga and all in the US, only Inuyasha and Ranma 1/2 ever made it big over here. Heck Urusei Yatsura never even got finished.

(This isn't to say that the title was unwarranted, because at the time she was still easily the best known mangaka in the nation)

I think Viz has licensed far riskier manga, so yeah that seems weird.
