Unlicensed Anime and Manga
Updated list of my most wanted anime & manga licenses. Going to stick to stuff that as far as I know isn't licensed in any English speaking country (this leaves out Dennou Coil and Chihayafuru which I gave up on being released in the US and imported from Australia)
Anime
Hyouka- I believe this is the only unlicensed Kyoani series (well that and the first season of Free! but Funi is trying for that) and it's such a shame because it might just be their best series.
Shirokuma Cafe One of my favorite series ever. The subject is niche to begin with and at 50 episodes its outlook doesn't look too good but I still dream for this series to come out here. Maybe Nozomi or Discotek will make my dreams come true.
Legend of the Galactic Heroes I'm bad and I still haven't finished this but this would be a definite buy if someone ever released it. I know its length and age makes it a bit prohibitive despite its reputation as a true classic.
The Rest of Saiunkoku The first series didn't sell very well so I know this will probably never be licensed. I just wish I could own the whole series. Better yet I wish someone would release the novels or the manga would have continued adapting the novels. It's kind of sad I'll never be able to experience all of Saiunkoku in English.
Maison Ikkoku Okay this would be a re-release from Viz. I never picked up the anime when it was originally released opting for the manga instead. The manga is one of my favorite series ever and this would be a day one purchase for me if it got a new release like Ranma 1/2.
Cross Game Well I am happy I have the manga at least but I'd love if the anime could be released as well.
Hotarubi no Mori E I was actually hoping this could have been released as an extra with the 4th season of Natsume but since that didn't happen I'd like to see a release of this movie as it is one of my favorite stories.
Nodame Cantabile Another wonderful josei series we don't have in the US. I'd also really love a license of the live action series but I know that is never happening.
Manga
Chihayafuru My most wanted manga release. I hate Kodansha so much for not giving this series a chance and I don't buy their excuses. They don't even put it up on the CR site for manga streaming which is just pathetic considering it is one of their most wanted requests.
the Rest of Nodame Cantabile It's really awful when a company doesn't finish a series. So it didn't sell well that's a slap in the face to the fans who bought the series. Sell it as print on demand then. Another reason for me to not really like Kodansha.
Silver Spoon I realize a series set on an agricultural school may be a hard sell but it's Arakawa surely it could have been given a chance. I might eventually buy the anime from overpriced AOA but I'd much prefer the manga.
I am a bit more upset at the unreleased manga than the anime I think.
