1) Anime Suki Created a Penguin Drum sub forum. I've been wanting one for so long. I am not really good at keep up with the theories on all the symbolism (because that just isn't how my mind works) but I am having fun discussing all the characters ( Read more... )

Yeah I was skeptical too since I am not big on most modern day retellings, but I thought Sherlock captured the spirit of Conan Doyle's stories perfectly. Maybe the CBS series will be better than I imagine as well, but I think they could have at least said where they got the idea from.

BBC Sherlock did well over here, but I am sure it would have done even better if it was on a station like CBS instead of PBS.

And yeah the constant remaking of anything foreign really annoys me. I mean yes some remakes are enjoyable and even better than the original, but that is rarely the case. But a lot of Americans can't be bothered to watch something they are not used to. And god forbid it has subtitles. Everytine TCM dares to
play some foreign language films on the channel, there are always some idiot who will complain.

I have no interest in the RDJ Sherlock movies. Just not my type of thing. :)

I have no doubts that CBS has picked up on the success of BBC's Sherlock but I am rather annoyed by Moffat's Twitter comment, talking as if he owned the idea of Sherlock Holmes in the present day. Ugh, very ungentlemanly behaviour on his part.

I actually feel Moffat has a right to be annoyed and a bit sarcastic. If CBS thinks a modern day Sherlock is a good idea (and can work as a longer US series) the least they can say is where they got that idea from.

I think he has the right to be annoyed, I also think is bad form of him to make that sort of comments about a network on his twitter. Of course he can believe and say what he wants but I think it makes him look bad, but maybe I'm too touchy (though it's not like Moffat has the best record ever).

I am also disappointed that CBS was making a modern day Sherlock Holmes. I know there was a cartoon like that once, but from my understanding that was a long time ago.
Though, I haven't heard anything about when the BBC will be starting the 2nd season. Do you have any more info on that?

I am not entirely sure. I know they were still filming not so long ago. I am guessing before the year is over.
