TCM is having random theme night tonight but it's resulting in some pretty good movies. Well okay it's not so random...they are showing movies of sons of famous fathers.

First up was The Wolf Man with Lon Chaney Jr in the title role whose father was the famous silent star and as said earlier will be honored for a day in August.

Aw, I'd love to see Prisoner of Zenda. The book it's based on gets referenced in the manga Emma a few times, and I was curious about it. I've heard of the 1952 version but didn't know there was an older version!

The 1937 version is definitely the better of the two versions so that is what I recommend (although there are things I like about the 1952 version)

Anyways do you have TCM by any chance? It's coming on again on June 22nd at 11 PM and August 4 at 6:15 PM (EST time).

edit: There are also silent versions of the story but I have never seen those.

Wolf Man. I've heard of it, but have never seen it. I'm not much of a horror movie person. The only creepy movie I like is 'Signs', which I actually own, but even then I don't watch it often. Though, I don't mind old horror movies like the first Dracula or the first Frankenstein and so on. Have you seen any of the old Werewolf movies? They're actually pretty funny, in a cheesy way. I like watching oldies.

Well this is the old Universal one from 1941. And you will see I am really big fan of old movies too :)

And I am not a big horror fan either with some exceptions. There are always exceptions.

Well I guess depending on your perspective it does have a sad ending, well I like to think of it as bitter sweet. I really like the ending though. Sometimes you can't always have that happily ever after and I think the story is stronger for it.

You never saw "The Wolf Man" before last night? I'm glad you enjoyed it then! :)

You're just as bad as Rose. She's never seen "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi yet. ;)

So, which of the classic Universal monster movies have you seen?

Well besides the Wolfman, I have seen Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and the Invisible Man.

And I also have seen Jekyll and Hyde although that is paramount not Universal (but it is usually linked with those movies). XD
