I need to see that movie. I am definitely intrigued by it after hearing you talk of it!
I share your feelings on not liking what Chris Carter and company did with the Mulder/Scully pairing. Ugh, everything was such a big mess by the time the show was over.
I always think of Mytho/Rue being right up there with Fakir/Ahiru in terms of popularity, but I guess you're right that Mytho/Rue sometimes gets the shaft.
It is a great movie. Bogart also has a supporting role (although he isn't sympathetic). It came out in 1939 which just seems to be the year so many wonderful movies were made in Hollywood. :)
Chris Carter also couldn't write a continuous storyline. X-Files was one of the first US TV series to try this but it was a failure in that regard. I love the series but for me the individual MOTW episodes were the best and those are the episodes I can watch over and over again.
I think Mytho/Rue gets more attention that most non-canon pairings in the Tutu fandom (and Princess Tutu fandom is odd in the way canon gets a lot more love) but yes I meant specifically when compared to Fakir/Ahiru.
Of course I also wasn't sure what else to put for this category. Other possible choices I liked better for other categories. :)
I liked the mytharc, until it started getting really messed up. I think it was around season 6 when I started getting frustrated with it.
(LOL. Yeah, it is interesting and different to see a fandom that loves the canon pairings so much. They seem to love a handful of the fanon pairings a lot too.)
For me the best mytharc eps are in Season 2 & 3. I like some of the Cancer eps in Season 4 as well but yeah after that it went downhill. And now I feel better just ignoring the mytharc episodes completely. That was why originally I was really excited when they announced the movie would be a stand alone story. Unfortunately it was a complete mess.

UNDERSTATEMENT.
I can't even ship them anymore.

I'd have to go with the following:
-Alex Sebastian and gang from Notorious--only Hitch could make me sympathize with Nazis.
-The Corleones
-Walter and Phyllis from Double Indemnity
