Well I still wait longingly and lovingly for the new FMA chapter. I know it's out there because I've seen the Camera Scans but they are harder to view than usual and so far no one has produced a readable RAW. I am not ungracious just really so in love with FMA and dying to see a clean version of the chapter.

Anyhow I watched the Oscar winner Hurt ( Read more... )

I don't actually think Hollywood is actually that liberal in the way that I don't think the Democrats are that liberal. They are all talk in that regard but that is pretty much where it ends. Not to mention that the people who make the decisions about what movies are made and what is acceptable, are most certainly not liberal by any stretch of the word. I mean the whole thing with Disney and Rapunzel is a total reactionary and conservative decision for the studios to make.

Also I find Avatar totally hypocritical in its anti-corporation message in how much money it took to make and all the merchandising. Hardly stands up to its own values.

I don't think the Disney decision is conservative or liberal. Extremely stupid & behind the times mind you but I don't think it is trying to force a message on us which is what I mean by Hollywood's liberal stance. Because I think when Hollywood makes a "message" movie the message is always liberal so what I was trying to say is it doesn't take guts to come out with these type of messages in a Hollywood film at all.

However I do agree with you that Hollywood (and also Avatar) is hypocritically liberal. Which is why despite being more liberal myself I don't respect these type of films at all. Because yes it's really easy to say I love nature, I hate war, I hate big business, or whatever message Hollywood is behind that day when you are raking in ,billions of dollars off of movie tickets. That;s the bottom line Hollywood wants to make money and they will put whatever into the movie if it sells.

I really liked Inglorious Basterds a lot as well. Although I am not sure if that film is Oscar worthy either but I wouldn't have complained if it won.
