Skellig

I noticed this trend lately that everything I want to watch comes out Sunday so I want Sunday to come quickly but that only means the weekend is over quickly as well...gah!

Anyways I loved Skellig. It was not as good as the book but eh few things are and it was still a really great adaption. Oddly enough the only thing I wasn't completely happy ( Read more... )

I love the book. There's a movie? Wow. You're making me want to watch.

It was a UK made for TV movie. I'll send you a PM on where to find it. :)

John, Kelly and Bill really did make a perfect little family. I even though Bill looked like the combination of John & Kelly. And I really liked that the movie showed both the good and bad times between them as it made the whole thing more realistic. The scene when the dad (John) was crying and the son comforted him was the sweetest thing ever. Plus I loved the scene towards the end when he was acting all goofy and singing in the car. It was a really great film and I agree with you I think it was the human aspects over the fantasy aspects that made it stand out so much.

I am surprised to hear Spain (which always seemed good at releasing anime to me) does not release many Ghibli films as that seems mainstream enough that it is released in most places. But I am glad you are able to get them regardless. :)

You know, the idea of getting Only Yesterday makes me want to dash out and get a region-free DVD player right now. Favorite Ghibli movie ever.

Before you go out and buy a region free DVD player look up the company and model number of your DVD player then search for this in google with region free code. It's very likely you will be able to make your DVD player region free by just hitting a few things on your remote, that is what I did with mine.

But Only Yesterday is one of my favorites as well and one of the few anime movies where I feel I can fully identify with the protagonist. Another nice thing is Ghibli movies seem to be cheaper in the UK, even with the currency conversion. :)

Unfortunately my DVD player is my PS3, and there's no way around the region coding on it (except to rip and reburn DVDs). I have heard that there's a way to make my computer's DVD player region free but I've been afraid to try it as it involves command line inputs and it's way too easy to totally screw something up there (also it's insanely complicated anyway).

I wouldn't mind paying more if only Disney would release it in America, though, really. :/
