Skellig

I noticed this trend lately that everything I want to watch comes out Sunday so I want Sunday to come quickly but that only means the weekend is over quickly as well...gah!

Anyways I loved Skellig. It was not as good as the book but eh few things are and it was still a really great adaption. Oddly enough the only thing I wasn't completely happy with was Skellig himself. However this was not Tim Roth's fault as I don't think I could have been happy with any Skellig. I think Skellig has to be something that needs to be left up to the imagination which words in a book are perfect for, visuals not so much. But I think the movie folks did the best they could with what is a very hard concept to create...and there were still some great Skellig moments in the movie.

However everything else was perfect I loved the entire cast: John Simm, Kelly Macdonald, Bill Milner, & Skye Bennett were all cast perfectly and really brought the book characters alive for me.

The scenes with Mina and Michael were so cute and so were the wonderful scenes between Michael & his dad. I loved how the movie had the perfect combination of realism and fantasy. The scenes between Michael & his family were so every day life that you really believed them. But then the movie also got the flying, the sky, the bird symbolism down perfectly. Some of the nature shots were so beautiful I could do without the cockroaches though LOL

Anyways I just placed an order with Amazon.co.uk for Skellig, Crime & Punishment, & Only Yesterday (it only dawned on me recently that not only can I now buy UK movies I can also buy anime, America did not see fit to release here). XD
