I've been meaning to read this for awhile since I knew John Simm was going to be in the movie adaption. I guess all the Life on Mars stuff that has been happening recently finally got me to get off my butt and get the book. So I went to the library early today checked it out and started reading it this morning, finishing it up just now. I really ( Read more... )

And thank you for making it. :)

I hope you don't mind that I got rid of the links section, I couldn't decide what links to put there.

Skellig was terrific, fingers crossed the movie is half as good - David Almond's other books are worth a read too, especially the claustrophobic and vaguely terrifying Kit's Wilderness.

Oh. and I'm glad the DVDs played. Multi-region players are a thing of beauty and convenience.

Thank you for the recommendation I will definitely look into that. If it's as good as Skellig I will look forward to it. :)

It's incredibly awesome especially since we don't get a lot of stuff from the UK over here (or it takes forever). Well your country will be getting a lot more of my money from now on.

It's one of those things where I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I knew there was a boy and some strange creature but I didn't realize what a powerful book it was. Once again it show's that something for kids can be far more intelligent than half the things I watch/read that are aimed at adults.

As for John Simm's character in the book for some reason I picture a little bit of Daniel from Sex Traffic, at least personality wise. But every time the dad was crying or showed fear (like when he thought his son was missing) I thought to myself I can't wait to see John Simm do those scenes in the movie and I hope they don't leave them out (but leaving out John Simm crying scenes would be so wrong). And I am glad to hear you say good things about the child actors.

Oh and I watched Tuesday, admittedly it pretty average but I still enjoyed it. Maybe because I like these type of movies in general (but I did guess who took the emerald pretty easily). It was a little too slow in the beginning but it definitely picked up

And YAY for ( ... )
