Saiunkoku 2nd Season Finale

What the hell is with Funimation and their obsession with bad Gonzo titles? The worst offense seems to be their license of Dragonaut (which I hope was part of a package deal). There are lot of titles that are licensed that I consider pretty mediocre but other people seem to enjoy them so what can I say. But with Dragonaut, everyone is going on ( Read more... )

Saiunkoku has a weird effect on me XD I LOVE RYUUKI! I dont like Shuurei but I ship them together XD Mostly I just want SOMEONE to be with him, gawd his loneliness is so painful to watch sometimes. The ending of s1 I about shot her XD But I can bet s2 ending was just better. I never got past epi 1 of s2 since subs were slow and unless it deals outright with Ryuuki Im not really interested.

Oh man I want that artbook...

Edit: cant spell XD

I love both Ryuuki and Shuurei :D

See for me I don't want Ryuuki to be lonely either, but I don't want Shuurei to give up her dreams to become a female official because I think it is very admirable (and I also understand that being a woman her situation is difficult, If she married Ryuuki, she would have to give that up). So I sort of want there to be a way for her to be with Ryuuki and stay an official. If only the queen had more political power. But Shuurei really does care about Ryuuki and she really is one of his best allies.

But anyways the subs are finished (finally) so it's a good time to catch up and there is a lot of Ryuuki, especially the last arc which deals with Ryuuki/Ran Shuuei. Ryuuki is awesome and so sweet in this arc.

I was so happy when it was finally completely subbed. It took a long time but it was worth the wait. :)

I really need to watch the rest of Saiunkoku. Shuurei seems like such a great heroine and I am a sucker for political intrigue.

As for Funi's license, I wonder if it's because right now they feel like it's more economical to license things that have cheap licenses? I did know some people who liked Dragonaut quite a bit though, but they kind of fell out of it so maybe they hated the ending.

Shuurei is such a great character, her strength is through her intelligence, although she is not perfect and she gains experience as the series progresses. So I definitely recommend finishing. There are some arcs that are not as good as others (the final arc in the 1st season for example) but overall it is a great series and I think the fact that each arc tells a different story keeps the whole thing interesting.

As for Dragonaut both on ANN and AOD, people are going on how horrible the show is. On AOD they have a topic "just how bad is Dragonaut". So far no one has said they like it, at the most you get 1 or 2 people saying it is not "that bad" but pretty much there has been unanimous hatred.

She is so my type of character. I dropped off watching it because the subbing was slow enough at first that I just stopped downloading after a few weeks.

I remember seeing A LOT of icons of the pink-haired girl at first, but then it sort of died off. So maybe people liked it at first and then decided it was fail? I have zero interest in watching it though.

I need to get caught up on Saiunkoku one of these days. I watched the first season but the subs for the second were so slow that I forgot about it.

I think Funi and Gonzo have some kind of deal between them or something, they seem to get all of their licenses and are Gonzo's police dog with C&D's.

Awhile back I caught up to episode 37 when it was being subbed on CR then the subs just stopped for months and it was taken off CR completely because Funi reuqested it so I thought I would never see the final two episodes. Then in the last couple weeks C1 was releasing the episodes like crazy and thankfully the series is now completely subbed (and C1 did a really good job too).

I never understand why Funi likes Gonzo so much. I guess some of their series sell well Afro Samurai for one (which I also dislike, but it has its fans) but Gonzo seems to be one of the least liked studios. Funi licenses a lot of shows I really like but their relationship with Gonzo disappoints me, especially when there are so many great series that remain unlicensed.

on a side note nice to hear from you :)

All Funi C&D shenanigans really seems to do is piss fans off. I don't like it when I'm following a series and they release a C&D right before the final episode airs and then they don't say if they have the series or not.

Well, maybe Gonzo's downsizing will help with their quality. If anything I wish they'd just stop trying to adapt manga. I loved the Black Cat manga and they ruined it with their version, completely pulled a different ending out of their ass (and the manga had been finished for years!).

♥ I'm trying to come out of my lurk mode that I've fallen into.
