The Lakes, Slayers and More

1) I finished the first series of the Lakes today and liked it quite a bit (well at least the last two episodes when it was more about the boating accident). I thought the ending to the first series was perfect and very powerful (I am a fan of ambiguous open endings) so I am not going to watch the second series. Not to mention I read a little bit ( Read more... )

1) I think I won't like the soap operish plot of S2 and I actually don't like Lucy very much. :/ Although I am still interested in Danny I think leaving his story where they did in series 1 was a really awesome ending.

And I actually did watch the Yellow House already and enjoyed it. I never knew all that stuff about Vincent Van Gogh I am not sure why I never posted about it actually. And I also watched the episode of Clocking Off with John Simm and Philip Glenister and also enjoyed that quite bit. Actually I would be interested in seeing more of that show because Eccleston is in it if it wasn't so long. XD

2) Yeah I was really shocked especially about the 1st scene. It's such an amazing scene. Really I was hooked from that whole sequence.

3) And you tempt me with the Honey and Clover artbook. But I should look into yesasia. :)

I am actually a really big Van Gogh fan. He is one of my favorite painters and I got to see a few of his paintings in person. But I never looked into his background. Well it doesn't surprise me he was so odd, most geniuses are.

I'll take your advice about Clocking Off and look for the first series. Maybe not right away but eventually. :)

From what I gather it is based on this Novel

Don't worry I didn't think you were bashing it I was just very interested that you liked the first series better because most people seem to like Next more. Of course that doesn't mean one opinion is right over another. I guess I am just interested when people have opinions that differ from the norm. I ma happy you expressed a different opinion to me actually. :)

Xellos is awesome!

I'm buying Volume 19 with Mushishi Volume 9 and a couple of GL stuff. It's like...everything I want is coming out in March. XD;;

As for Slayers...I have a weird history with that series. I got obsessed with it in high school, but since I couldn't afford to buy all three seasons (back then I only bought VHS tapes), most of what I knew came from internet fandom. Until last year, all I'd ever seen of Slayers was the first half of the first season and the first half of TRY...and a couple of random episodes from NEXT that I found on Kazaa. I still haven't seen all of NEXT or TRY, though I'd read summaries of the episodes. ...Also, back then, I shipped Lina/Zelgadis. >_ ( ... )

If I could read Japanese there would probably be a lot more things I would want to buy. Unfortunately I don't think I can rationalize spending $30+ on just one manga right now. I will get it eventually but I am sort of upset I can't get it now. :(

I've learned to never listen to fandom. Of course you were in HS so I probably would be the same then too. I still remember thinking I was going to hate Kouga from Inuyasha because of what the fandom was saying about him and he ended up being my favorite character in the series.

I didn't actually ship Zel/Amelia for sure until NEXT.
