Totally relate. Like, when you sell nonfiction, they buy it on an idea/proposal . . . they may have seen very little of the writing, and you have NO idea if they're going to send it back to you with like "this is totally not what we wanted, can you do these seven major reorganizations and rewrites and add this whole section you don't know anything about?" I was convinced--before my editor returned with the lightest edit imaginable--that I probably sucked at pulling it off.
