I think we have another example of the Rule of Cool here, not to mention a mild case of "cat dancing on the keyboard." I hope the "dead babies" thing isn't another case of an author trying to "darken" a thoroughly tepid fantasy story with gruesome stuff.

Wow, I wonder if that mystery boy will turn out to be the nonrotting baby they never found. Oh, the suspense.

Personally what I'd like is to have a fictional princess who decides, "Hey, you know what? I'm rich, pampered and have no responsibilities at all! I have it pretty good -- I could be a starving overworked peasant who'll die young. I should be grateful rather than whining about my minor problems!"

And Cokyri makes me think "Cock-ri" or "Coke-ri." Whichever. I don't know how I'm supposed to say it either.

And isn't the word "relentlessly" rather than "unrelentingly"?

Oh, and if you want to make yourself even iller than before, check out this biography, obviously written by her. ("I'm so DIFFERENT! I alone write for FUN! I am UNIQUE!")

She is right though! I only write because the bunnies tell me too. If I don't do what they say they torment me endlessly. And I see them on the edges of my bed their bright eyes staring at me endlessly unblinking and little noses wiggling and the cat is STFU it's your problem. And they've BEEN THERE ever since I was like FIVE and they won't go away until I WRITE SOMETHING!!!!!

So, yeah, clearly I don't do this for fun.

Sometimes as night, do they sit there staring at you like rows of little glowing gems?

Same here. ;)

Yes. They do. With their beady little eyes.

Ah, the infamous "info-dump" prologue. That's just sloppy writing, right there.

Edit: Ah, just checked out her bio. She's sixteen. I have a feeling this explains a lot. There's still hope for her, but there really are some things you learn only after years of writing.

"Cokyri" makes me think of the Legend of Zelda, personally.

Also, DUDE. YOU HAVE DEAD BABIES. THIS NEEDS MORE EXPLANATION THAN JUST "BABIES DISAPPEARED THEN TURNED UP DEAD".

You too? I can't help but think that's where she got it, honestly. It's just too similar sounding.

"Hytanican" or whatever made me think of Hylian, just by the way it looked, but that's less suspicious I think.

...dang, someone beat me to the Zelda ref. But yeah, "Cokyri" sounds suspiciously like "Kokiri", which was the name of the village/people where you start the game in Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Plus, "Hytanica" makes me think of "Hyrule" (the primary setting of the Zelda series) with -tanica tacked on. So much so that I thought of that even before I got to the "Cokyri" bit. >_>
