A hollow feeling settled in Arthur's stomach as he stared at the floor in front of him. Merlin's words made more sense than he would've liked, but he didn't dare think about what they might mean. Not now. He'd had too many surprises over the last couple of days, too many new things to consider

I love that Arthur is so in tune with Merlin and his moods and how Merlin pushes Arthur to be a better man. When Arthur asks Merlin's feelings about magic, you created wonderful tension and longing in Merlin. When the truth comes out about Merlin's magic, Arthur is sure to remember that moment and the desperate earnest expression on Merlin's face. It's fantastic.

Thank you very much for the comment! I'm glad you liked the bits with Arthur reading Merlin's moods and the effect Merlin has on Arthur's actions. After so many years together, they do seem to be pretty in-sync with eachother. I'd like to think that this is a moment that would come back to Arthur when the reveal eventually takes place.

This is fantastic. Love the bit where Arthur doesn't want to break the charged, intimate atmospehere, ("the spell that had fallen over the room"). I get the sense that Arthur knows, but won't force Merlin to come out and say he has magic, because then Arthur would have to actually deal with the fall-out, because it's against the law, and then Arthur would have to change that, and maybe he's not ready to take that step yet, and it's all a can of worms!

Thank you very much! I think you're right on the money with regards to Arthur - he suspects a lot about Merlin, but he's not sure if he's ready to deal with it, and especially not sure if he's ready for things to change between them. He's had a lot of shocks to his system in terms of who and what he can trust, and I don't think he's confident he can take another just yet, especially from Merlin.

But I think this story would have a happy ending in time :) Thanks for reading!
