Phenomenon 2011 Review

This was a good solid convention. As always, I am so appreciative to the organisers for creating this space. Everything went smoothly, might be in part that only one person beat us into registering. I might suggest to the organisers that in future the first team to sign in gets a better placement of the Triptychs. We had one in the first session ( Read more... )

The premise of Uptime Girl was the weakest bit - the logic doesn't hold together very well at all (though I can answer your questions, some of them even with better answers than "uh, because!").

The original concept was to actually have the characters editing themselves by changing history to make themselves more attractive to each other - so they'd have to settle on who were the grandparents and who was the future universe saviour.

We couldn't get it off the ground for several reasons, notably the difficulty of generating player buy-in to the concept, and also because of the vastly greater depth required of the character sheets - and mostly because Real Life cut our time down far more than expected. I find it interesting that a couple of people have picked up on the shadows of the original concept - alas, usually to the detriment of their enjoyment of the game.

Thanks for taking the time to provide comments - it's greatly appreciated.

On potential flashbacks, absolutely everything established in the history could have been fodder for flashbacks. They all would have been interesting. And we ran early, so there was time to look in more detail at several of these.

And in my session, Brenelis came up with a device that controlled Rohan. Where did it come from? Did Tenerim build it? Did it require a piece of Rohan while he was still human? In which case, how did Brenelis acquire that piece?
