My Sister Doesn't Hate You

She's just of the mind where she thinks that religion and politics mix. She's a traditionalist. Her reality is set in stone. She see's what is right in her world and wants to keep that world intact. She's misguided and she's wrong but she does not hate you. My sister voted Yes on 8 and I love her. I'm doing my best to understand her in the ( Read more... )

The guy in the brown Mickey T looks kinda like I did when I rode that. I was digging my fingernail into the rivets in front of me thinking that somehow that could save me. LOL

Sometimes to mask anger and hurt we gotta just turn towards the positive :)

Love the sinner, but hate the sin. I've heard that more times than I care to remember. It always sounds hollow. I understand. I too have a sister much like yours.

"Jesus, protect us from the evil that those who profess to follow you might do in your name." Amen.

If your sister is much like mine then you're truly a lucky man.

Thank you for pointing-out what (it seems like) a lot of gay-folk forget. Hate and discrimination are not the primary reasons why Prop 8 passed... I think the majority who voted for it, are decent people who are doing what they think is best.

Bill - Y'know, the reality that Brian was born and raised in CA, and that his family is here ... and that you weren't and they aren't, is a matter of random coincidence.

We all talked about our families, the evening you and Dennis and I spent together.

Can you say in all honesty that if you had been raised here, that none of your blood family would have voted "Yes" on Prop. 8?

If you and Dennis need to work through your hurt by saying stuff like this ... well, OK. But I think you and he are both capable of more critical and nuanced thought, than that.

It wasn't meant as bate. It was really bothering me how people were generalizing that people who voted Yes hated us and hated gays when that is simply not the case for everyone who chose to vote that way. That was my point. You can use that as a sounding board to jump wherever you'd like. That's your choice.
