Was woken up early this morning by an employee calling in sick. I think it's kinda cute really - my employees calling me almost daily at this time a year with colds... I'd probably respect them more if they just said "Brian, I have 5 sick days left and I want to use a few of 'em before the end of the year and we're so slow right now I figured it ( Read more... )

I know I don't know you all to well and all, but I have seen you interact with your buds and people you had just met and you already seem to radiate kindness and openness. I thought you to be a handsome and sweet man (pink cape and all). ;-)

Anyhow, as far as the New Year resolution, of being open and warm is a good one..., but start on December 31st. You'll be tending bar no?

Lord help ya on the 31st w/ all the celebration and gluttony.

You know, that's what I used to think when I first met you, almost three years ago (wow !!). I know much better than that, now.. for quite some time, actually. I know you're not much of a smiler, but I also know that oftentimes you are smiling on the inside :)

Thanks Wayne... And I know that the folks who take the time to know me know that about me. I just think that the onus shouldn't be on the individual to be patient and to figure me out. I should at least try and meet people halfway...

I always find you warm and personable. And very funny, You always crack me up. You are one of the those larger than life people. Everyone knows you man. You have a "public image" that preceeds you and people sometimes expect you to live up to their perception of you, rather than who you really are. Well you can't be 'on' all the time. I can relate man, I'm just glad my job isn't such that I have to be interacting with people in bars while I'm working. I think people would see a different, not so pretty side of me if I did. Cut your self some slack. You are totally and warm and friendly personal.

Thanks for sharing that with me Noel. I know you can relate because you have that same "public image". Funny enough, working at the bar has really helped me come out of my shell some. When I think of how/who I was over four years ago starting out at it and who I am now - it's quite a change. But while it can bring out the best of me it can bring out the worst as well - re: the other side.

I'm just trying to get better at welcoming people into my life.
