What? It's not Friday you say? Yeah, I know - but I was busy doing work and things and stuff on Friday and (well, okay, I just plain forgot). So now that I've dug out from under all the pressing work issues from this morning I'll take a moment to throw down a Fav.

This week's Fav is Trillian. It's probably way old news for most of the geeks out ( Read more... )

trillian has been my favorite client for years now, and they support most of the useful bells and whistles of other clients now (but probably only the pro version, i paid for it years ago).

i love being able to broadcast a single message to everyone in my department at work at the same time, regardless of what client they use.

I've been a Trillian guy for more years than I can remember. I love it, if for no other reason, than I don't have to look at all the ads in the other clients, and I have all my chat accounts in one client!

Now, I can't wait for Astra to come out...

That's right! Had almost forgotten about it. Wonder what's up with the delay?

They have a blog regading the Alpha right now. It's in build 41. No word on when it's going to Beta, but I'm going to pounce on it the moment it does!

yeah, for the more specialized functions it doesn't always hold up well - but for basic chatting, file exchanges etc it's nice. And I'm hoping Astra didn't get bogged down in its desire to be the all singing, all dancing, super solution that it's touted to be on the teaser site.

I wish there was a way to group 2 SNs into a single name...

for instance - TIMMY would be one name with two little colored circles to indicate which messenger "TIMMY" is on, y'know?

Other than that, it's pretty convenient.

Agreed - I'd like to see that as well. Wouldn't be surprised if that's taken care of in their Astra release (slated for '06 but still not out)

they pretty much already have this, but it's in the Pro version. you can group TimmyAIM and TimmyICQ and TimmyYahoo into just "Timmy". When you mouse over his single name you'll see whatever services he uses appear beneath his name so you can choose one specifically, or you can just double click his name and it will give you a chat window with the last used one.
