Life on Two Wheels

What a nice sleepy/lazy couple of days it's been.  It's been nice to be in SD after spending the last three weekends in LA hitting theme parks.  Always good to get a chance to recharge the batteries.  Went out on Friday for a beer with funbearsd and ran into some folks I hadn't seen in a while.  Had a nice catch-up talk with Gary and put together a decently ( Read more... )

I've always been a big dude and I've even worked on bikes for a living...and I've never heard that about chain slippage. It's a balance between deraileur tuning, gear ratios, chain lube, and wear and tear...but I've never heard of weight being a factor. Your weight isn't going to have a lot of effect on your legs rotating the peddles around, and hence the drive train...

I mean maybe if there was frame bend? But I'd doubt that, and again it could be compensated for by adjusting the deraileur...

Hmmm, I think I'll have my bike geek friend look at it. It only happens on a couple of gears.

well for the chain slipage, you may want to have it tuned, they tend to get out of sync, infact I have to every year. slipage is common, but what are you talking about, is it shifting gear automatically, or is grinding and slipping when you change gears.

I'd say take it to the shop if you haven't. If you have, might have to shorten the chain or live with it

yeah, I dealt with the shortening the chain on my previous bike and still seemed to have issues with it.

re: tune-up, I just got it back from the shop! :)

It tends to happen when I'm in certain gears only... but it doesn't make me hesitant to stand up in the saddle and bare down on the peddles. I've had a slip when doing that and really hurt my shin when it slid off the peddle as a result.

ughh, I just read my comment - hope it was clear.. what I meant to type was "it does make me hesitate to stand in the saddle and ride"...

that's what I get from trying to do three things at once.

And thanks!

It's a good thing that he is moving to NYC.

He's one of the most genuinest people here in SD and he deserves all the happiessness in the world.

It's a shame that some many of us have been made to feel like we don't belong.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great opportunity for him - this was my selfish way of saying What about me? Which i can easily answer with an equally selfish "I have a place to stay in NYC now!"

Cocktail is a catty, nasty, fabulous betch and that is why I love him so.

Re: Belong - Solution. Invite all the people who perceive that they don't belong out to dinner or a movie and enjoy the company. Rag on all the people you feel excluded by. Sail that ship full bore until you sink it.
