(a bunch o' snaps from the LA SS show here--not taken by me)
I've been off the LJ since Wednesday night for the most part so I'll be trying to catch up some over the next couple of days.  So before I dig into all your wonderful posts I'll catch you up on what I've been doin' of late.

Thurs - Went up to LA from work around 1pm to meet my friends John and Jim before the Scissor Sisters show.  Hung out with John and geek speaked about Battlestar Galactica 'til Jaime and Hot Scott showed up.  Chip and Rob arrived as did Jim and few more of their friends before we all high tailed it towards the Shrine Expo Center via Chollos Mexican Food for pre-concert grub.  Met up with the LJ contigent there (Andy, Brad, Keith and friend) and also with Rotten Robbie and his posse o' pals.  Had some good food and invited our waitress to join us at the show (she politely declined--her dress was fabulous).

Arrived at the show and ran into more SoCal bears and friends.  There was a healthy group o' fuzzy dudes in "Pooh Corner" (the area in front of where Baby Daddy plays) and hugs and general tugs were exchanged.  Robbie brought along his cut up disco ball pieces with the adhesive on them like he did for Coachella and we spent some time giving folks a 3rd Disco eye.  The band started almost a full hour after the opening act which was sort of lame but they came out with a LOT of energy.  They opened with Take Your Mama and pretty much went old, new, old, new most of the the night.  At first the crowd didn't seem to connect - the acoustics in the Shrine are kind of crappy and the new album is still pretty darn new and this is, LA after all - but by the fourth of fifth song people started coming around and by the last song (filthy gorgeous) everyone was pretty much sold.  I had a total blast myself.  BidTits:
  • Coco Peru was up on the VIP balcony - I screamed up to her "Cocooooooo" and she politely gave me a queenly wave - awesome!
  • Dave Grohl was spotted on the VIP balcony as well - Dave = the man
  • SS didn't play "Return to Oz" - Bummer... but they really nailed "Comfortably Numb"
  • Jake and I had a moment:
Jake to Anna: Did you see these people with the mirrors on their foreheads?
Jake to Crowd: What's that all about?
Me (screaming): We're all part of one big disco ball (he was lookin' at me so I had to represent for Robbie)
Jake: You're what?
Me: We're all part of one big disco ball!
Jake: Ohhhh - they're all a part of a disco ball.... goes on about that being cool and disco etc and then they play the next song
So yeah, me and Jake are totally boyfriends now.  After the show we went to The Eagle and met up with Gary, Aaron, Brad and Simon for beers and fun.  It was packed considering it was a Thursday.  After much merriment we headed back to Scott's and crashed but good.

On Friday I bid farewell to Hot Scott and stopped over at the Casa de Dave W. Alanso D. and Aaron A. for lounging and tummy rubs (short stop at Irv's Burgers first for grub) then me and Aaron and Simon headed to Venice to catch some tourist vibes and laugh at hippies.  There weren't really any legit hippies but we still managed to have fun and I picked up some new cheap-o shades that I've been told make me look both manly and hot (yes - they are indeed magic glasses) and a cool dios de los muertos skull thing (pic of that to come).  From Venice we went to Dave C. and Jayson's pad before heading North to Magic Mountain for Gay Night.  Took us about 90 minutes to drive 20 miles in traffic (nuts!) but got to the park in plenty of time.  Met up with Gary and Rob eventually and had sooooo soooo much fun people watchin' and ridin' rides.  X was closed (sorry Sluggo, it's caput through Jan of '07 it sounds) but we did ride Tatsu and with it being at night I was pretty much in 5 y/o girl mode on it.  Jeez that ride scares me--but I love it!  Highlights:
  • Scary night time Tatsu, Scream, Batman and Goliath
  • Gang Banger chicks holding hands with chicks and chollo boys kissing and looking adorable
  • Getting rabbit ears (and all the guys havin' animal ears)
  • Being smiled at more by complete strangers than I have in my life for wearing said ears
  • Having an excellent time with people I think kick mountains o' ass
I was bummed that Gay Night wasn't gay enough.  I tried to gay it up some by rubbing bellies and exposing my nipples to people but it just wasn't happening.  I wanted techno music playing over the park speakers (instead of scott joplin tunes) and dudes on go-go boxes.  I think they should pass out bottles of poppers when you get there too.  Who's with me on this?  We were also pretty much the only bear dudes there.  So yeah - we represented by having oral sex openly and woofing a lot at small children.  Oh yeah - they made me move to the fat boy row on Superman again - guess I still need to cut down on the curly fries.  After the park we headed to Denny's for grub and to wash all the gay off of us.  Crashed at Cobb's with Simon and slept on their fab new IKEA'riffic couch.

Saturday morning we headed to the Brunch of Tears (aka the goodbye Simon brunch).  More LJ'ers there but mostly talked with Dave W., Simon, Gary, Aaron, and Chris.  Have I mentioned before how insanely happy I am to know these folks and have a home away from home in LA?

So - I'm gonna cut short the weekend wrap-up here 'cause this post is too long already.  More to come including hanging out with Justin, Dan, and Chris who are in town from Den and SEA, the AIDS Walk, and much fun at The Hole.

friends, life, la, good times, concerts, scissor sisters, theme parks
