Friday night went with Jim Allen to see
The Last Starfighter: The Musical, which was cute.
My review. Went home immediately afterward, since I knew it would be a long weekend.
Saturday afternoon went to Jersey for
hollywd and
minstrel70's Wedding Shower. Arrived at the Port Authority much quicker than I expected, so I killed some time at The Sweet Factory, where I found some dark-chocolate-covered raspberry gummi bears. mmmmm.
Ran into
mollyx and
jayspec on the line for the bus, and we arrived at the party together.
wonderpanther had put together a great fun party, with awesome food. It was lots of fun. Saw some of
minstrel70's friends who I hadn't seen in a while, including Jon, who I always think is so cute- talked with him and his wife for a bit.
carasol and I left together to go meet with with
dry_2olives to see
Sympathy Jones, which featured Tony in the ensemble. It was a really cute play, some of the best overall music I've heard in the NYMF so far. The script could use some work, but it was very accomplished. Tony was very funny. Crashed at his place afterward, where he and I watched part of
Species III, which was terrible, but had J.P. Pitoc taking his shirt off a lot.
Woke up the next day and we had breakfast then headed up to 190th st. for the Medieval Festival in Fort Tyron park. It was really cute- not as involved as the RenFaire in Tuxedo, it's a one-day thing. Ran into Susan Rankus and her friend Brian, and we all watched the jousting together. Saw Carrie and Juliet in their various posts- Juliet said I could miss her show, since it was really only for kids. Susan and Brian went off to the Cloisters, and Tony and I went in search of food, discovering the mouth-watering
Down Under Bakery Pies, which were awesome. We each had one, then went back for more (also to swoon over the hot bearded redhead who was serving them), where we ran into
carasol and
mollyx, who each got pies of their own.
carasol and I left around 3:30 to see
Such Good Friends in the NYMF-
dry_2oliveshad been raving about it at Sympathy Jones. It was spectatular- the most polished & professional piece I've seen in the NYMF. Really good.
carasol and I went to Hale & Hearty Soups to kill time before our next shows we had to see, where we ran into the superlative
Lorinda Lisitza, who had been to see the same show as we, but was on her way to see Enter Laughing at the York.
Lorinda left, we ate our delicious soup (I had the chicken molé poblano- mmmmm), and parted ways.
Went back to the same theater to see
Love Sucks (review coming), with Jeff. I liked it, he didn't care for it as much, but agreed it's a genre bias, as he's not much into 70's style Punk Rock.
carasol was quite right with her review- "loud".
We went out for a beer afterward at Vinyl, which was nice. Saw Anthony Rapp there. Jeff said he's planning to rejoin playwrighting group, if not tonight, then next week. w00t!
