[Jack, in an effort to avoid any contact with Atlas, has been avoiding posting to the network for the past week, and has spent roughly half his time with Delta and the other half moving around almost constantly ( Read more... )

[ Bhamba is mostly busy with his own research, but every once in a while he glances over at Jack and smirks. So much enthusiasm for such a small not-even-really-an explosion. ]

I'll be right back. Amy needs her lunch and...

[ He walks past Jack with a chicken in his hand. ]

...see if you can find some Zinc and Sulfur around here.

[He immediately puts down the burnt-out magnesium and begins going through drawers.]

What will zinc and sulfur do? Does she just eat whole chickens, with the feathers and everything?

I could tell you, but that would ruin the surprise.

[ He holds up the feathered and alive and everything chicken in his hand, indicating that he's moving on to the next question. ]

Why don't you see for yourself?

[He leaves off searching, because watching a crocodile eat a live animal is way cooler.]

Could a person eat feathers? I mean, you wouldn't want to, but could you?

[At this point he has a piece of magnesium burning merrily away in a beaker of water. He looks faintly confused for a moment, and then searches around for what Bhamba would say.]

Magnesium! [Elaine's face brightens up. This is the girl who memorized the periodic table for fun, and was often (and canonly) challenged by her foster father to recite it backwards.] You should put it in water. It keeps burning even if you do.

Really?

[COOL. Cue Jack getting another piece and trying exactly that. He holds up the beaker of water, the piece of magnesium still fizzing away.]

You were right!

Mm. I used to memorize the whole periodic table. That's how bored I was at home.

[He glances at the poster over his shoulder, which he has recently been introduced to. It's big.]

The whole thing? Can you still say it?

[He glances around a little furtively--he's still trying to be scarce, hard to find.]

...In a lab.
