It's a clan-centric dish too, specifically the Foochow clan. So if you know a Chinese person who knows how to cook this, chances are that person has Foochow heritage. (And I just ( Read more... )

Actually... that looks appetizing. Hahahaha. The pinkish tinge actually reminds me of bagoong. Mmmm... salty.

My dad actually used to make char-siu in our restaurant and it looked pretty much just like that while it was marinating. lol Memories. I'd be curious to taste it! Can you describe the taste?

That is awesome. :D Yeah, char siu can be kinda freaky looking when it's being marinated too, hahah. I love eating char siu with noodles.

Can you describe the taste?

Hmm, the taste ... now that I think about it, I'm not sure how to describe it. Have you ever tasted Chinese red wine? Just imagine that, but more oily and 'thicker'.

No way does this dish look scary - I loves it! :D I always eat with with the mee sua, because I just find that it's weird to go with rice. o_O But my grandma makes the sauce into more like a soup which is still super yummy. *heh*

OMG, SOMEONE ELSE WHO EATS ANG CHAU BAK WITH MEE SUUUUUUA! :D So nice, so nice. :D

I prefer the sauce to be thick so the flavor is stronger. The one time my mom made it very watery, the color was lighter too ... and the soup appearing pink was what freaked me out. Hahah!

:] This has totally brought up my craving for ang chau mee sua - that's how my family calls it. Heh.

Pink is such a wrong color for food, lol. But the soup my grandma makes is still very red so that flavor is still very much there. Heehee!
