This is my first time baking a pumpkin cake! Got myself two rather large pumpkins from a market outside of my home city last weekend, and I figured it was a good time to bake a pumpkin cake. I used a recipe I found here, but I changed/left out a few ingredients.

I'm going through a pesto craze. After eating pesto pasta at a restaurant several times, I figured there had to be a cheaper alternative to eating the stuff regularly other than paying fourteen bucks per serving. Looked up various recipes for homemade pesto and went right down to it.

No, the subject of this post isn't a random string of words. It's the literal English name of a local dish that's relatively unknown even on my side of my home country. Well, the last couple of days have been very chillax and cool (cool as in weather cool, that is). For Christmas, I got myself Junot Diaz's The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao which won the Pulitzer Prize for 2008. Seven pages in and I'm already chuckling.
