Thinking of the New Year.

It is in just a few days, and why not come up with direction for next year - especially since I've been floundering a bit directionless for far too long. This is why I've not posted anything in over a month, as I've done very very little creative this past month ( Read more... )

I hear you, I do. You are so on to something here that many of us have been diverting ourselves away from.

Much deep thought is required here from me at least. I have been in the ruts of ruts and have always looked to you all for pulling me out. Thank you so much for everything so far. I am with you this time though. It is time to step up and spice up the wardrobe. :)

Maybe we can help each other pull out of that rut. :-)

I am so with you on this. About a year ago I started looking at online postings about 'capsule wardrobes' as a starting point for thinking about what items of clothing do I want/need to keep in my closet. I also found Project 333 a good seed of inspiration, even though it's aimed at women who already have a lot of clothes, and need to weed things out.

I've got a pretty good travel wardrobe now (meaning a selection of pieces that all go together that can keep me clothed in a variety of climates for a week and all go with the same pair of shoes) but I find a travel wardrobe limiting for all the things I do for everyday. But I find the clothes in stores to be mostly ill fitting, badly constructed and not suited to my body. So instead of "shopping my wardrobe" I've been "shopping my fabric stash" and slowly building simple pieces that layer well. (But that's my style. Your mileage will most certainly vary.)

I don't travel all that often, but I do like the capsule wardrobe idea. Basics that work together is what I'd like to do. I also have a very minimal wardrobe since I tossed many unworn items some time ago. I need to purge again, but I may remake a few of the items into garments that fit, instead of hand like they are.

Ayup. I don't travel often either, but I just got back from a week with my in laws and I am reminded that the genesis of my wardrobe remaking was making sure I had a week's worth of clothing for my trip to visit them last year! ;-) This year I tossed all the things that I had earmarked as part of the capsule onto the bed, and I had a week of decent outfits suitable for family holiday thingies. It was a good start for me.
