Your embroidery is absolutely beautiful! I'm seriously blown away by how much patience and skill you have for it.

Thank you. It helps me with patience, as I have to slow down to work on it.

Thank you. The leaves are growing on me.

And yes, the background is silk, with a cotton/linen fabric behind it.

Considering your talent in illumination, I'd really love to see what you do in embroidery. :-)

Which silk thread are you using? Something highly twisted, with a lovely shine....

Great photos, btw. I only just discovered the macro feature on my camera ...a lot of the photos in my blog are just shocking - just wasn't cut out to be a photographer, especially once the gold thread goes in....

I forgot to mention that, so thanks for asking.

I am using Soie de Paris thread, which is a filament thread, it is twisted, and comes 6 strands to the length like DMC does. I really like it, although the color palette is rather limited. I bought most of them from Hedgehog Handworks, with some of the threads as leftover from my Thistle Threads glove needlecase class, which is where I first learned about this thread.

And yeah, Macro really makes the difference. My digital camera also does Macro Zoom which is even better in some situations. I've had decent luck with gold, but the sparkle can get in the way - or it doesn't capture enough of the sparkle. I try to use a really good overhead halogen light, although sunlight is best.
