The high temp today was around 80 degrees! The magnolias and cherry blossoms are blooming all over the place, all white and pink and purple. It's gorgeous. Could the dog have been a Scottish Deerhound perhaps? Huge like Irish Wolfhounds but much thinner in face and body.

I think you're right. The photo of a Scottish Deerhound on this webpage looks almost exactly like the dog I saw.

If his human was a very tall woman, you may have seen Rawley, Christie Keith's boy. She's a columnist for the San Francisco newspaper and for petconnection.com.

Unfortunately, the dog was so striking that I didn't even notice the owner! Also, he was off-leash and there were lots of people around, so it might have been hard to tell without really paying attention.
