I'll do two: a show that is no longer on the air, and one that is still.

As for no longer on the air...well that's REALLY obvious XD

BUFFY THE MOTHER EFFIN HOT BITCH IN CHARGE VAMPIRE SLAYER

It was hard for me to replace Firefly with Buffy as my favorite television show, but it's hard to really compare a show that got cut off at 14 episodes with a show that ran for 7 seasons and 144 episodes. Buffy had way more development while Firefly really only just started. Had Firefly actually run it's course, then the decision would probably be way harder haha.

Buffy really has everything though. It's a TV show that did a fantastic job of successfully combining comedy, drama, romance, and tragedy. And for starting out as a teen high school show, I'd say that's pretty impressive. It's a show that didn't take itself seriously, but also often dealt with very serious subject matter. Buffy is definitely a show that surprises you when you first watch it. I had seen basically all of Whedon's work post-Buffy before I actually watched the show. And even knowing that he is a genius of epic proportions, I was still skeptical going in to watch it. I remember when the show was actually on the air I thought it was the stupidest thing and refused to watch just because the title was so ridiculous (and I still think it is XD). But really, you go into the show thinking it's going to be some mind numbing teen series with vampires and it turns out to be something really, really, impressively amazingly good. Season 2 is my favorite, because Buffy/Angel 4evaaaaaaaa ♥

So if you haven't seen it and can get over the bad 90's fashion, start watching it nooooooow. As for a show that is still on the air...

DEXTER

Dexterrrrrrrrrr omg Dexter ♥ This is another one of those shows where my brother was watching it at home and I'd be like "What is this can I have a turn please..." and then sit there and watch it with him for hours XD Dexter is about serial killer Dexter Morgan. His father was a cop and noticed the signs in Dexter at a young age and before he actually fully developed into a killer. Knowing that what was happening to Dexter was inevitable, Harry Morgan basically trained Dexter in the art of serial killing, as you could call it. How to cover his tracks, how not to get caught, and how to choose his victims: murderers. Dexter is a serial killer who only kills other killers. He's like a sick, twisted form of a vigilante, and refers to his father's teachings as Harry's Code. The show follows Dexter, and how he juggles family, work, and serial killing. It's dramatic and mysterious, but also often lighthearted and humorous (which sounds terrible, given the premise, but it is XD).

Dexter show might just have the best writing of any TV series I have ever seen. Dexter's inner monologues sometimes just leave me dumbfounded. There is no show on TV right now that has this much quality of writing on it. Everything is top notch about this show. The actors are all perfect and there is not a single person who drags the performance of everyone else. And Michael C. Hall is just....again, dumbfounded. He is just an astounding actor and I have never seen anyone like him before. Another WATCH IT NOW show. Only downside about the show: TOO SHORT ;__;! Only 12 episodes per season D:
