I didn't know much about them, either, until I decided that I wanted to get a bird (and, then, specifically a lovebird). I've always thought that they're absolutley adorable, but that was about the extent of my knowledge. So, well, Lovebirds are really, really, social and have the attitude of a big parrot, but in a little parrot's body. Because they're so social, they bond with a member of their flock - so it could be another lovebird, or if they're handraised, well handled and you give them lots of attention, then it would be a person. When they're bonded to another bird they're more skittish and don't like to be cuddled, but when they don't have a bird bond and are paired to a person, then they're apparently really cuddly and affectionate. I was so upset because there were three unbonded birds, and they were given no attention, and the girl is all "Nobody's going to buy them cause they're not friendly anymore"... and that's cause nobody gave them any attention in the store! They're probably lonely! And if they were actually handled ( ... )

I used to have budgies - my first, Azul, was wonderful. He would talk and chatter and perch on books while I was reading and chew all the corners off the pages. Awhile after he died, we got Chica, who hated the world, and would only (barely) tolerate me. She'd bite and scratch and act like we were trying to kill her if we came anywhere close to her. It was sad. :(

That's sad that the good guy retired. :( There used to be a pet store that sold only fish and supplies around the corner from my school that was owned by an older man. He was so nice and loved the fish a lot. When he retired, he sold it, and now the building has been turned into a restaurant or something. :(
