We had a very interesting chapel today. I must confess I was also very much taken with the book I was reading during the performances, but the speaker was good nonetheless. He was from Exodus Ministries and spoke about how to love people struggling (or not struggling) with homosexuality while also challenging them to live a pure life devoted to God ( Read more... )

Actually, my family started off Lent with my brother flipping his car at 11pm on Forgiveness Sunday. I got the phone call and was like, "And it begins. Lent."

I miss teasing you incessantly. You and your snot-nog.

Your brother's accident sounds Lenten :-/ - is he okay?

As odd as it sounds, I miss your frequent pant-skirt combo :-). Maybe everyone does that in California, but I have yet to see it out here. Well, that & your startled noise :-P.

Awww! You love my startled noise!!! In honor of the "pant-skirt" combo, I will wear it tomorrow. It shall be marvelous. P.S. Not a lot of people do that here. I'm just weird...and yet strangely fashionable. It's Lent. That means it's time for me to shut up....

My brother is fine, but his car is totalled. Since this is not the first accident, his insurance will go through the roof (and not in a good way), and he won't be able to afford another car for a long time. It was raining that night, and he decided it be a good idea to go fast on a California on-ramp.

Please tell Janet (if you should see her) that I love her and miss her and really would love to see her again someday soon. She made the trip better in so many ways.

I await report of your Pant-Skirt Combo Wearing Day - I'm sure the news will travel fast ;-).

I'm sorry to hear that about your brother's car & insurance, but it does all make sense in a rather unfortunate & awkward way :-/...

I will pass your greetings & salutations onto Janet the next time I see her. I'm off to Chicago for a long weekend, but I have class with her Tuesday.

Oh, & since I've forgiven you & you've presumably forgiven me, it's now time for me to remind you about diligence (a very Lenten thing) & ask you to send me a copy of the CD from Антоний. Don't worry if there's not time now - I'll keep asking periodically over the course of the next few years via lj & facebook, & when we run into each other in the Ukraine or China or the Maldives or wherever I'll ask then too :-).
