Thank you ! this is what I was expecting on the show, and once more, I was disappointed...But you're here and you make things right, in a brilliant way at that.
I think you (and all of us, readers) understand and love House & Wilson more than the writers.
Beautiful scene, so sensitive and moving.

I would love this story anyway (correct medical details = yum), but I love it even more for sorting out at least some of the crappiness of the episode (and don't get me started on getting a liver biopsy by stabbing somebody, never mind all the rest of it...)

(I read your rant too, btw, and WORD to all of it.)

"You’re a pain in the ass, House, but I love you anyway."

Awww. That's why I love those two.

*mems*

This was sweet. I love the idea of House feeling unsettled by the lack of control on what was happening to him, and Wilson taking care of him.
also, "Lately, it seems anytime I’m handed a beverage, my state of mind is significantly altered." lol. Poor House. Even if he deserved some of what happened, for sure he didn't deserve everything.
:)

Wonderful! Thank you so much!

The medicine in that episode was so awful even for me, who know nothing about this kind of procedures.

Honestly I can't understand House's passivity and acceptance: so he thinks he deserves everything bad that happens to him and forgives everybody. Ok. Do they forget about Stacy? They don't remember the love of his life? The person that under a lot of pressure took a decision out of his hands and tried to save his life and was never forgiven? What about the deterioration of the H/W friendship during the Tritter arc, again because someone, who loves him, took a decision from him?

Sorry about my rant... But that plot point really annoyed me...

But your fic makes everything better. With lots of Wilson. Like it should be in the episode. All the episodes. Wilson can make everything better!

I completely missed your rant (probably by virtue of not having you on my f-list) but I largely agree in so far as the medical issues go. I'm not entirely sure about the alternative though. I'm always torn on the issue between the need for medical accuracy and the demands of rapid story-telling. I don't mind that they bend the facts here and there. I start objecting when they're factually wrong (ABO...WHAT?!) or make mistakes that directly impact characterisation (huh?!...pain management...huh?!). This time they were merrily dancing back and forth across the line. On one hand, I'm not interested in watching House being observed for 24 hours (which IMO would be the sensible thing) - it'd be dull as dishwater. On the other hand, it annoys me that they chose such a glib approach ( ... )

paracetamol isn't an NSAID

known as acetaminophen here. and yeah--i know. so... trying again [answered this a few comments up]. it is my contention that house takes large doses of NSAIDS [my guess, judging from my own experience, would be ibuprofen, probably 1200mg/day, 600 morning and night] as the combo increases the pain relieving efficacy of both the hydrocodone and the ibuprofen. i once had a friend who had chronic pain and an allergy to NSAIDs. Her doctor told her, whenever she'd claim her meds weren't working, that it was a pity she could take only tylenol [acetaminophen/paracetamol] to supplement, as it hasn't the necessary anti-inflammatory properties. and with house, in my opinion and from my own experience, as i said upthread, taking ibuprofen for chronic pain is as boring and necessary and not worth mentioning as taking laxatives for the constipation hydrocodone causes!

[added you to f-list]

Oh, shoot. I didn't read all the comments - I'm trying hard to look as if I'm working right now. I am a pedant when it comes to canon though and as long as it's not shown/mentioned/made clear, I'd personally not use it as a plot point, but to each their own.

And I didn't, you know, fish for a friending. I just wanted to explain why I missed it. Oh, what the heck *friends back*

i totally 'get' the canon thingy--i am, believe it or not, of the very same mindset. i suppose that, in this instance, it's so much a part of my own existence, and my previous nursing experience, that, in my twisted little brain, it is 'unmentioned' canon. perhaps not, but for plot purposes, it works out well, no? ;)

didn't for a second think you were 'fishing'--just wasn't something that had occurred to me either. and i realize many of us already have out-of-control f-lists--but some folks [i'm looking at you silja_b] are just worth friending. ;)

now get back to giving every appearance of working before you make the rest of us slackers look bad [my house has begun to make audible noises in its bid for my sorely needed attentions].
