I was at the point of posting a report about my recent tutoring of 2 kids in reading, but this is a new system that I do not fully understand and it all went pfthfpthppp. -
teaching reading
The program to aid school children with their lessons, chiefly math, having petered out for some unknown reason, my eye was struck by a solicitation for volunteers to help in the Reading Seed program. Regarding several boys, ages elementary grades thru high school, I know (who shall remain further unidentified here): I was again reminded of how difficult it is for me to connect with them in any way. The insidious disaster of avoidable childlessness
Many of those Americans who are most fit to be having babies are not, nor even marrying, which is bringing about personal and social ruin. Finishing up the semester
My second-most-recent session with 2 boys of the 4th grade on their math, was to this effect: One I have had often before, and he is coming along significantly, but when hitting the world problems, basically didn't know what he was doing. Recent tutoring sessions
The past few sessions involved kids other than the ones I usually have tutored. I do not lack for tutees: volunteers have frequently been forthcoming, most of whom I have yet to work with.
