I'm such a n00b knitter I still use those Knifty Knitter plastic looms :( one day I'll learn how to knit with needles though.

Learning to knit was a lot easier than I thought it would be. A lot of yarn stores have classes or you might be able to find someone at a knitting meeting up to help you figure out instructions.

Knittinghelp.com has videos that I find very useful. Much easier to understand than books.
