The acting did carry this episode and it shouldn't have to.
The coronation was so tacked on. I kinda feel sorry for Gwen too. She's pretty much a pointless character. As this episode showed. She was just there in scenes but not really present as a character.
AHAHA yes. I half wonder if they made them siblings because otherwise people would be wondering why Arthur was with Gwen. Of course in season 1 Arthur DID fancy Morgana and there was talk of Morgana marrying Arthur so...
Merlin is so magic he doesn't need to sleep. Apparently.
I so wanted a scene where Arthur gave him the coat.
The first half of season 4 gave us some great stuff. And then all that was demolished in the second half.
Season 5 needs to bring some serious game changing stuff to the table. Actual change and development nit the half arsed stuff of this year.
Pointless is a good word. Merlin did all the work, Arthur angsted a lot and was good with a sword, and Gwen what? Tagged along in the hopes that Arthur would change his mind eventually?
I don't know what kind of queen she'd be, I've no idea what s5 will bring. But I do know that, shipping aside, the wedding at this point has knocked off the balance the show was built on. It's no longer a story about a young warlock who is discovering his destiny and begins to come to terms with it and act on it. Now it's just another story about the legendary King Arthur's court -- and I have to say, as such, it's not the greatest interpretation.
Actually, even if I was an Arwen shipper, I wouldn't want a wedding now. A wedding means their story is over. Done. Moved to the happily ever after part, where nothing exciting ever happens.
The wedding was so rushed and looked somewhat out of place. Arthur and Morgana have way more chemistry in this episode than Gwen/Arthur in the whole season! I've always felt their scenes together was forced and stiff, especially compared to Merlin/Arthur. :3 I hope Merlin's magic reveal will be epic, especially when they have dragged it out so long.

Yeah, so in short, I don't get it. :)
