I give you an additional of 2000 words over the originally estimated wordcount, and all you do is complain? Typical. :P

Will come back to leave a proper comment once I've read this but just thought I'd say: SQUEE

WHO IS MY FAVOURITE PERSON TODAY?

Hint: You.

Wow. That was just… I have no words to say how much I loved that. Everything about this chapter has me totally, head over heels in love. Your style of prose, your storytelling, your characterisation… all of it was beautiful, thrilling, heartbreaking and spot-on perfection. Bravo ( ... )

I wept during that entire scene, sobbing and reading the whole thing out loud. My face is red and bloated and ugly thanks to you.

Aw, no, bb, no, I didn't mean to do that. It's all the boys, they are so impossible at times, I can't handle it. Luckily they can handle each other, or we'd be all in the state of an eternal heartbreak. >.<

Thank you so much. This chapter was rewritten three or four times, which I don't normally do, and I hate it when I have to. By the time the final draft was sealed, I was elated because I finally liked it, but then I reread it and thought, Okay, so what was it I liked so much about this again? It was very frustrating. I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear it worked out. *beams*

Thank you. <333

I am awed by this feedback. Seriously, I must have spent too much time obsessing over the breakdown scene, and as a result, naturally, it stopped having the same kind of impact on me it once did. I am relieved beyond words and very happy that it's only my faulty perception.

Chess, yes. :D Well, the game is in a way an indicator of one's mind's patterns. Of course, those two need to play many more games against each other to come to know the deeply rooted mechanics of each other's minds, but it's a start. I would imagine that for Spock, chess would be like a 2D reality constituting for a 4D one of a meld. Slower, but also less intense. No wonder he was fascinated.

It's a funny thing about Jim and Tarsus in TOS. He didn't come out outright, but he dropped enough hints, and he had to know Spock would dig the rest out. This Jim is having a harder time sharing, but desperate times and all that.

Thank you so much for being so supportive and open-minded about this whole fic. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. <333

Okay, I wasn't supposed to read anything today, but that was just so worth it! :)
